TEAM TOTEM COACHING STANDARDS

Coaching Registration

All Team Totem coaches must be registered with Boxing BC at minimum as a Coach-in-Training, with all dues paid.

First Aid Certification

Coaches must hold a current minimum of Emergency First Aid + CPR certification.

Criminal Record Screening

A valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (completed within the last 2 years) is required. Totem covers renewal costs only.

Professional Conduct

Coaches must never be under the influence while on-site, nor promote substance use in any form.

Program Qualifications

Coaches must hold the proper credentials for all programs they teach—no exceptions.

Compensation

Coaches earn a 50% flat rate for all classes, private sessions, and programs they lead. If two coaches run one program, the split is 60% to the lead coach and 40% to the assistant. Totem does not withhold deductions. A T4A is issued annually.

Membership & Access

Coaches receive free Totem Fitness membership and access to events Totem is invited to. If an event has a cost, coaches are responsible for their own fees.

Volunteer Coaches

Volunteer coaches may receive honorariums or benefits. They must meet the same minimum requirements. Any Totem coach may request support from a vetted volunteer.

Travel & Event Support

Totem does not cover travel within Kamloops city limits. Totem helps secure funding, sponsorship, and support for competing athletes, including travel and accommodation for coaches, staff, and volunteers. Cornering duties are compensated at a flat rate equivalent to $20/hour.

Team Totem coaches uphold the Team Totem Creed and our philosophy: Athlete first, fighter second. We do not encourage bloodsport or unprofessional behavior.
